It’s that time of year again where school’s love to test your creative skills. Let’s face it…. These Easter bonnets aren’t battle of the kids, but battle of the parents.
Anywho Easter holidays, mean lots of little bodies to entertain and keep busy so here’s a simple activity but heaps of fun and who knows… could become a family tradition each year.
NEED
- Eggs
- Food Colouring
- Bowl (qty dependant on number of colours)
- Spoon/wire egg holder
- Lace
- Glitter
- PVA Glue
- Saucepan
EGGS
Boil as many eggs as your heart desires. Place eggs in a large saucepan. Cover them with cool water by 1 inch. Cover with a lid and bring water to a boil over high heat. When the water has started bubbling, set a timer for 7 minutes. Before decorating, allow for cooling time.
COLOUR
Mix ½ cup of boiling water, 1 teaspoon vinegar and 10 to 20 drops of food colouring into a small bowl to achieve desired colours. Repeat for each colour. Once cooled, dip hard-cooked eggs in dye for about 5 minutes. Use a spoon or wire egg holder to add and remove eggs from the dye. Leave eggs to dry for 10 minutes.
DECORATING
Not essential but if you want to make your eggs look even more eggcellent crack out the glue, glitter and any other crafty bits you can find and go crazy!
